Awesome weekend is all I gotta say. Thanks so much Jen and Julian! So as soon as we get to the island, I was unanimously nominated the "boat babe", because Jen the original boat babe was to leave Saturday evening. Besides posing on the boat, the main job of the boat babe was to be first off the boat (FOB, get it? haha) and bring her into the dock. But that quickly became secondary... naturally the title "boat babe" brings with it jokes of a certain nature. Nuff of that.
On Saturday, after Bible study and lunch, the Foreman (Julian) put us down to some real work. I would say we accomplished quite a bit, finishing up the floor joists and topping off with the floorboards for the front porch. After it was all done, we took advantage of the new stage and did some fine Celtic dancing. And we intiated the cottage noobies (Marc, Elaine, Grace) by making them do interpretive dancing. Got such a laugh outta that!
On Sunday, after church and ice cream, I almost lost my glasses! We were all chilling on the dock, and after some taunting by Bonnie that I wouldn't push her into the lake, I proceeded to do just that. What I didn't expect was that Julian would push me in right after... with my glasses on. So yup, after the dunk I resurfaced WITHOUT MY GLASSES. A search and rescue mission immediately ensued, but turned up nothing. The water was getting murky with all the kicked up mud, so the rescue team decided to try again half hour later. Now, here we are, 20 minutes into the second search, I pretty much gave up hope of ever finding them. They would become lake-bottom treasure that perhaps another cottage group would find 5 years from now... haha. But then suddenly, the Foreman shouted "I got the baby!", and I was so shocked and elated when I saw them again. Definitely a mini miracle... because I did pray for them! But thanks everyone, for a moment I felt the whole Emmanuel army was either helping or supporting me... that was something special all on its own.
